Who is Liable in a Tempe Car Crash Caused by Speeding or Running a Red Light?

In Arizona, drivers who speed or run red lights are typically found at fault in the event of a motor vehicle collision. These actions violate traffic laws and demonstrate negligence, which is a key factor in establishing liability for a car wreck. When a driver causes an accident, the insurance company representing the at-fault motorist is typically responsible for covering damages incurred. Injured parties may be entitled to compensation for:

  • Past and future costs of medical treatment for accident-related injuries
  • Lost earnings and diminished earning potential due to injuries resulting from a crash
  • Pain and suffering from the emotional trauma and physical pain of injuries caused by a traffic collision

Why You Need an Attorney After a Traffic Collision

If you were struck by a driver who was speeding or running a red light, it is important to consult with an experienced car accident lawyer in Tempe who can protect your rights and build a strong case for maximum compensation. An experienced injury attorney can help you:

  • Investigate the cause of the car wreck and gather key evidence such as police reports, traffic camera footage, and witness statements
  • Establish the other driver’s negligence and prove they violated traffic laws, such as running a red light, speeding, distracted driving, or other unsafe driving behavior
  • Navigate insurance claims and negotiate with insurers who may attempt to downplay the severity of accident-related injuries or unfairly shift blame for the incident
  • File a personal injury lawsuit, if necessary, to seek full compensation for medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, and other losses resulting from the motor vehicle collision
